  • An Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) employee reportedly snatched a Chinese flag that was draped over Li Jingliang’s shoulder as he paraded inside the Octagon after his win against Russian fighter Muslim Salikhov at UFC Long Island on Saturday.
  • The 34-year-old Chinese mixed martial artist tried to protest and reclaim the flag after it was taken away by the official, but failed.
  • Many on social media were outraged by the new UFC policy, which was enacted in May just days after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
  • “It’s a dumb policy when they are putting the fighter’s flag next to their names during fight walkouts and introductions,” one Twitter user wrote.
  • “Stupid rule for no flags,” another user commented. “Just because he’s from China doesn’t mean he agrees with their government, political decisions etc. Let the man represent his upbringing and homeland where he made it out of, in order to become an MMA star in the biggest organization in the world.”

An Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) official reportedly snatched a Chinese flag that was draped over Li Jingliang’s shoulder as he was celebrating his TKO win over Russian fighter Muslim Salikhov last weekend.

Li, also known as “The Leech,” was parading around the Octagon after defeating Salikhov with a second-round TKO in UFC Long Island on Saturday when a UFC employee was suddenly spotted approaching the 34-year-old MMA fighter and ripping away his country’s flag.

MMA fighter ‘The Korean Zombie’ hints at retirement after UFC 273 championship match loss


UFC featherweight fighter Jung Chan-sung – better known as “The Korean Zombie” – hinted at his retirement after losing his championship match on Saturday.

In a post-fight Octagon interview with Joe Rogan, Jung, 35, confessed that although he felt “the most confident” he ever has in his career entering the match, he “hit a brick wall” that he “could not overcome” during the fight. The event was Jung’s second-ever title opportunity after losing to José Aldo in 2013.

  • American MMA fighter Jarred Brooks learned a derogatory word in Tagalog to trash talk potential opponent and Filipino ONE strawweight champion Joshua Pacio.
  • “Pacio is a ‘puki.’ If you want to translate that then you can. Is there anybody who wants to translate that? He’s a ‘puki,’” Brooks said, using the Filipino word for “p*ssy.”
  • Brooks, also known as “The Monkey God,” has been known to call out fighters in the strawweight division and revealed that his trash talk is what has gotten him opportunities throughout his MMA career.
  • Brooks previously defeated Pacio’s Team Lakay stablemate Lito Adiwang and No. 4-ranked Hiroba Minowa.
  • He is set to fight No.1-ranked fighter Bokang Masunyane in a world title eliminator at ONE on April 22.

Chinese mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Zhang Weili defended her title after winning a close fight against her Polish opponent Joanna Jedrzejczyk at the UFC 248 in Las Vegas.

The 30-year-old Chinese fighter took the win via a split decision from the judges. According to Yahoo, one of the judges scored 48-47 to the 32-year-old Polish fighter, while two others scored Weili with the winning 48-47 total.

Zhang, 30, also known as “Magnum,” rapidly won the match after defeating her opponent in just 42 seconds by a technical knockout (TKO) at the UFC Fight Night at Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre in Shenzhen, China on Saturday.
