Community members of Tarzana, Los Angeles have chipped in to help the struggling VIP’s Cafe, the favorite cafe of the late legendary UCLA coach John Wooden, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The mom and pop cafe, owned by Paul and Lucy Ma, is struggling to pay their staff and rent since it reopened on May 11 after shutting their doors in March due to the COVID-19 lockdown orders, LA Weekly reported.

The owners of the cafe were inspired to create their brand after becoming disillusioned with the cabaret and cafe scene in Sapporo. “Although there are beautiful girls [in these establishments] indeed, [they have] blonde hair, [their] nails are gaudy, [and they’re always] smoking cigarettes,” said their crowdfunding page. They desired to see a more natural beauty in the cafe scene, but instead of looking tirelessly for such an establishment, they decided to form their own.

The Sailor Moon Café will once again open its doors in Japan this year as opening dates and venues have just been unveiled, and it usually doesn’t stay for long since these are limited-time offerings.

Fortunately for fans of the series, they will finally get a chance to visit the Sailor Moon café starting on September 22 to October 29 in Tokyo. Fans in Osaka and Nagoya also get their share of Sailor Moon goodies on September 28 to November 5, and September 29 to November 5, respectively.
