Parents of missing Vietnamese Canadian student whose last text was ‘Bye’ appeals for locals’ help

  • Chi Thien Tran, a 20-year-old university student, was last seen at approximately 11:00 p.m. in the area of Parkwood Avenue of Saint John, Canada, on May 3.
  • Tran sent a text message to his parents that read, “Bye,” on the morning of his birthday on May 4 at 5:30 a.m.
  • Tran is described as 5-foot-3-inches tall and 114 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He may have been wearing a black jacket, jeans and black Adidas sneakers before he went missing.
  • Tran’s backpack, which contained his personal items and seaweed, was found by a Bayshore Beach resident near Sea Street on May 17. Authorities believe that the backpack may have drifted ashore, but no further evidence was found after additional searches.
  • The Saint John Police and his parents are asking residents to help search for the missing boy. His parents have not given up hope that their son is still alive.

Missing Canadian teenager found dead in Surrey park with signs of foul play, say police

  • Maanav Kinkar, an 18-year-old boy who was reported missing by his parents, was found dead in Hazelnut Meadows Park in British Columbia, Canada, on May 26.
  • Authorities have not released the details of Kinkar’s death, but the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) believe his death to have been a targeted incident.
  • The IHIT released a photo of Kinkar and video footage of the teen on the SkyTrain station in hopes of advancing the investigation with any witnesses.

An 18-year-old boy who was reported missing by his parents was found dead in Hazelnut Meadows Park in British Columbia, Canada.

Police responded to the park near 140th Street between 68th and 70th avenues in Surrey at around 8:40 p.m. and found the body of Maanav Kinkar on May 26.

Death of missing 13-year-old girl found in an Oregon stream is ruled a homicide

  • Milana Li, a 13-year-old sixth-grade student, was found dead in a park in Beaverton, Oregon, on May 10, about 24 hours after her mother reported her missing.
  • While Li’s cause of death has yet to be disclosed, police said an autopsy found Li to have died in a homicide.
  • Rstay Hofman, a family friend, created a GoFundMe page to raise $50,000 to support the grieving family. Nearly $37,000 has been raised so far..
  • Police urge anyone with information regarding Li’s case to contact Detective Cindy Herring at 503-526-2280.

A 13-year-old girl was found dead at a park in Oregon, about 24 hours after her mother reported her missing.

Officers responded to the Westside Linear Park in Beaverton before 3 p.m. to reports of “suspicious circumstances.” They found the body of Milana Li in a small stream off the Westside Regional Trail on May 10.

  • Police are continuing to search for an Asian woman who was reported missing in California late January and whose car was found with the key still in the ignition.
  • Alexis Gabe, 24, went missing “under suspicious circumstances” on Jan. 27, the Oakley Police Department (OPD) said.
  • OPD served a search warrant for a residential address in Antioch, where Gabe’s ex-boyfriend, the last person who reportedly saw her, is believed to reside.
  • A GoFundMe has been created for "friends and family to continue efforts to search for her whereabouts.”

Cho’s story: On June 28, Cho, 30, reportedly walked away in distress from her residence in Yucca Valley, Calif. She was converting a school bus into a food truck and was working as a chef, according to Oxygen True Crime.
