Designers Prabal Gurung , Phillip Lim to collab on costumes for Disney Plus’ ‘American Born Chinese’
- Renowned designers Prabal Gurung and Phillip Lim will collaborate for the first time in Disney Plus’ upcoming series “American Born Chinese.”
- Based on Gene Luen Yang’s graphic novel of the same name, “American Born Chinese” follows a high school student who makes a new friend and together find themselves caught in a war between gods of Chinese mythology.
- The series stars Ben Wang, Jim Liu, Michelle Yeoh and Daniel Wu, to name a few.
- Executive producer Melvin Mar described Gurung and Lim as “incredibly talented artists who have made their mark in the fashion world,” adding that they are “delighted and honored” to have them on the creative team.
Renowned Asian American fashion designers Prabal Gurung and Phillip Lim are collaborating professionally for the first time in Disney Plus’ upcoming adaptation of “American Born Chinese.”
The collaboration, which was first reported by Deadline, will see the pair work on culturally significant costumes for characters from Chinese mythology and classic literature.
