A TikToker has gone viral for calling out Trader Joe’s over an instant ramen cup that contained a relatively small serving of noodles.
The video: TikTok user @aiyannace, who has nearly 100,000 followers on the platform, vented about her Trader Joe’s Spicy Miso Instant Ramen Soup in a video posted on Feb. 12. As shown, the noodles occupied little space in the cup and appeared to be about a fistful.
“Trader Joe’s, stop playing with me. I’m a loyal customer. I thought I was going to have a nice cup of ramen,” the TikToker says in the vieo. “What the f*ck, what is this?”
What’s in it: The Spicy Miso Instant Ramen Soup contains 1.76 ounce (50 grams) of serving per cup. The package recommends topping the ramen with ingredients seen in authentic Japanese ramen: chopped green onions, hardboiled egg or roasted seaweed.
Not the first time: Others have previously voiced dissatisfaction with the ramen cup. A Reddit user, for one, wrote last October, “[I’m] not loving the texture of the noodles and the portion amount is kinda skimpy.”
Several TikTok users also echoed @aiyannace’s disappointment. “I am also a victim of this Trader Joe’s ramen,” one shared.
“The first time I got Trader Joe’s ramen was also my LAST time,” another quipped.
Others poked fun at the situation.
“They sent a sample help!”
“That lil ball of rubber bands.”
“That’s one slurp.”
“That’s for my toddler.”
A change of heart: While “mad” about the ramen, @aiyannace posted another video on Valentine’s Day giving a positive review of Trader Joe’s Belgian Chocolate Heart treats. “I know we mad at Trader Joe’s right now, but I don’t know what they put in these chocolate hearts; oh my gosh,” she said.
