Rock the vote: The “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” star, a known advocate for better Asian American representation in media, has joined producer Brad Jenkins (Funny or Die) in enlisting help from personalities to increase voter turnout, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In the past two decades, Asian Americans have become the fastest-growing racial or ethnic group in the U.S. electorate, a new analysis from the Pew Research Center shows.

According to the report, eligible Asian American voters have increased by 139% from 2000 to 2020. This year, more than 11 million will be able to cast their votes, making up 5% of the country’s electorate.

History was made yesterday during the U.S. 2018 midterms when Young Kim, former State Legislator, became the first Korean-American woman to join the U.S. House of Representatives as well as be the first Korean-American member to serve in Congress.

In a very close race in California’s 39th district with 51.4% of votes against her opponent, Kim defeated Democrat Gil Cisneros who holds 48.6%, according to Yonhap News.
