Simu Liu appears on ‘The Simpsons’ as Lisa’s tech billionaire husband

“The Simpsons” officially welcomed Marvel star Simu Liu to the show’s universe after he made a special guest appearance on Sunday.

The 33-year-old “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” star was the voice behind the character Hubert Wong, a successful tech billionaire, in the ninth episode of “The Simpsons” Season 34. The episode’s title, “When Nelson Met Lisa,” appears to be a reference to the 1989 romantic comedy “When Harry Met Sally.”

  • An animated counterpart of Simu Liu will appear in “The Simpsons” for a guest role.
  • On Tuesday, the Marvel star shared a photo of his guest role on Instagram, captioning it: “Guys it’s me IM ON THE SIMPSONS.”
  • In the photo, Liu’s character can be seen with dark hair, square glasses and a sports coat. Next to him sits an older version of Lisa.
  • Liu will be voicing an adult Hubert Wong, one of Lisa’s love interests.
  • Liu will star in an episode titled: “When Nelson Met Lisa.”
  • Fans can look forward to Liu’s appearance on Sunday, Nov. 27 at 8/7c on FOX.

  • Homer is shown driving his daughter and Duffman — Duff Beer’s spokesperson and mascot — around as he tries to guess Lisa’s second-favorite genre of music after jazz. 
  • He then plays BLACKPINK’s “Lovesick Girls” in the car, and the characters jam out to the 2020 track, even singing the chorus and Korean lyrics. 
  • BLACKPINK’s Jisoo reacted to a clip of the scene in a recent Instagram story, writing, “Is this real?!” 
  • The K-pop girl group are currently on their “Born Pink” world tour. They will conclude their North American portion in L.A. later this week before venturing to Europe and Asia-Pacific for the rest of the year and into 2023. 

The latest episode of “The Simpsons” reveals that Lisa Simpson is a fan of K-pop and BLACKPINK.

“The Simpsons” voice actor Hank Azaria continues to express his apologies for voicing the character Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, noting that the character itself has become “practically a slur at this point.”

Over a year after he stopped doing the character’s voice, Azaria reflected on his controversial portrayal of the Indian American character during an episode of the podcast “Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard” on Monday.

“The Simpsons” creator Matt Groening said that Apu, an Indian character slammed for perpetuating stereotypes, was named after an acclaimed Indian film trilogy that he described as the “greatest films in the history of cinema.”

In a recent interview with the New York Times, Groening acknowledged the controversy around the character, who entered the series in 1990.
