Leaked internal video reveals for the first time ever how Pokémon cards are made from start to finish

In an internal video acquired and released by Pokémon fan site PokéBeach, The Pokémon Company International and Millennium Print Group reveal how Pokémon cards are made.  

The video, titled “How Pokemon Cards are Made: from Start to Finish,” features the previously unpublicized Western creation process, from text translations to printed drafts being delivered to warehouses.

  • A Washington state man who stole $20,000 worth of Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering cards returned a month later to try and sell the stolen goods.
  • The cards were stolen from a card store located in Whatcom County, Washington, where the suspect smashed the glass door and entered around midnight on Aug. 9.
  • On Sep. 3, the suspect allegedly returned to the same store and attempted to sell the cards that he had stolen a month ago.
  • After an employee recognized the man and confronted him, the suspect reportedly became belligerent and declared that he would return to rob the store again.
  • The man was hit with several charges; however, he was released on Sep. 4 on personal recognizance.

After stealing around $20,000 worth of Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering cards from a store in Washington state, the man returned almost a month later in an attempt to sell back the stolen goods.

On Aug. 9 around midnight, the suspect, later identified as 37-year-old Myles Vaughn Pajnogac, smashed the glass door of the Cosmic Games store located in Whatcom County, Washington and stole many items, including Pokémon TCG packs and Magic: The Gathering cards, reported The Bellingham Herald

  • A 1998 Pikachu “Illustrator” holographic card sold for $900,000 last Wednesday, breaking the previous record for most expensive Pokémon card sold at $375,000 in February 2021.
  • The rare Pokémon card is only one of 41 copies that exist and was sold in “Near Mint 7” condition.
  • The “Illustrator” holographic card was originally handed out as a part of an illustration contest that was held in 1997 and 1998.

The previous record for most expensive Pokémon card to be auctioned was shattered after a rare 1998 Pikachu “Illustrator” holographic Pokémon card sold for $900,000 last Wednesday.

There are only 41 copies of the rare Pokémon card, of which 39 were originally awarded to CoroCoro Comic magazine readers who submitted winning entries for an illustration contest held in 1997 and 1998, according to Dicebreaker

On Monday, the Pokémon Company officially announced a new free-to-play digital version of their trading card game set to be released on Android, iOS, Mac and PC.

Updated format: The new game called “Pokémon Trading Card Game Live” will allow its players to collect cards and battle with other people online in an updated format, the company said in its announcement, ComicBook reported.

Japanese Man Flexes Collection of 31 Pokémon Cards Worth $70,000 on TV

A Japanese man who collected a set of Pokémon cards over the years was thrilled to find out that it was worth six times more than he had expected.

On the April 9 episode of “Kaiun! Nandemo Kantei-dan” (“Good Fortune! The Group That Prices Anything”), Yoshiharu Takahashi showed up with his collection of 31 cards, which he estimated to be worth 1.2 million yen ($10,715).
