  • An AirAsia flight from Kuala Lumpur to Tawau was rerouted to Kuching, Sarawak, on Thursday after passengers found a snake slithering behind the overhead lighting fixture.
  • “The captain took the appropriate action and the flight safely departed for Tawau as soon as possible," Captain Liong Tien Ling, AirAsia's chief safety officer, said in a statement. “The safety and well-being of our guests and crew is always our top priority. At no time was the safety of guests or crew at any risk."
  • The airline fumigated the plane upon landing in Kuching before safely delivering passengers to Tawau.
  • The Thursday incident was likened to the 2006 movie “Snakes on a Plane” starring Samuel L. Jackson.

The AirAsia flight was reportedly on the way to Kuala Lumpur from Tawau on Thursday when the pilot was informed of the unwanted stowaway, CNN reported.

Passengers of AirAsia flight QZ535 claimed the crew was screaming as the plane plummeted to 20,000 feet on Sunday due to pressurization issues in the cabin.

AirAsia QZ535 — an Airbus A320 — left Perth, Australia at 11:15 a.m. for Bali, Indonesia. An hour into the flight, the plane reportedly lost pressure in the cabin and dropped from around 34,000 feet to 20,000 feet in a matter of minutes, CNN reported.
