‘American Born Chinese’ official trailer includes appearances from Michelle Yeoh, Stephanie Hsu and Ke Huy Quan

The upcoming original series, which is based on Gene Luen Yang’s 2006 graphic novel of the same name, will premiere on Disney+ on May 24

Disney+ dropped the official trailer for its upcoming original series “American Born Chinese” on Friday.
The two-minute trailer features several familiar faces, including Daniel Wu as Sun Wu Kong, Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh as Guanyin, Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan as Freddy Wong and Oscar nominee Stephanie Hsu as Shiji Niangniang.
The show, which is based on Gene Luen Yang’s 2006 graphic novel of the same name, follows protagonist Jin Wang (played by Ben Wang) as struggles with both home and school life. After meeting Wei-Chen (played by Jim Liu), a new transfer student who is revealed to be not from our world, Jin finds himself entangled in a battle between different gods of Chinese mythology.
In addition to Wu, Yeoh, Quan, Hsu, Wang and Liu, other cast members include Yeo Yann Yann, Chin Han and Sydney Taylor. The series’ guest stars include James Hong, Ronny Chieng and Jimmy O. Yang, among others.
“American Born Chinese” will premiere on Disney+ on May 24. Check out its official trailer below:
