“Everything Everywhere All at Once” director duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, commonly known as the Daniels, have transformed “White Lotus” star Jennifer Coolidge into a “Power Rangers”-inspired villainess for the cover of W Magazine.

Photographed by Lenne Chai, the shoot features Coolidge with an assortment of giant monsters, explosions and large weapons, all an homage to the Japanese film genre tokusatsu.

The tokusatsu genre includes famous franchises like “Kamen Rider,” “Godzilla,” “Ultraman” and “Super Sentai,” or “Power Rangers” as it’s known in the West. The genre is a favorite for Kwan and something he grew up with.

Kwan expressed his excitement about the photos in an Instagram post.

Excited to reveal that we had the opportunity to work with Jennifer Coolidge and W on this photo shoot and cover inspired by some of our favorite tv shows and movies growing up. Tokusatsu/sentai/kaiju stories were alway inspiring to us as kids because of how tangible it all felt. Can’t believe we got to finally play in that world with the one and only Jennifer Coolidge.

Coolidge responded in kind on Twitter, initially expressing she thought the Daniels may have chosen the wrong muse but loved working with them.

When the extraordinary @Daniels first called and presented their vision for this shoot — paying homage to the Japanese Tokusatsu film genre — I thought they had the wrong muse (or certainly not their first choice for this amazing honor!) How unbelievably cool are these photos?!

Everything Everywhere All at Once” leads the pack for Oscar nominations this year with 11, including Best Picture. They previously nabbed the Best Director top prize at the DGA Awards and took home historic wins at the SAG Awards.
