A Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officer accused of abusing a woman suffering from a mental health crisis in Kelowna, British Columbia, last year was finally charged with assault last week.

What happened: Mona Wang, a nursing student at the University of British Columbia, was having a panic attack on Jan. 20, 2020 when her boyfriend called the police to request a wellness check. Constable Lacy Browning responded to the call, but instead of taking Wang to a hospital, she allegedly abused her physically and emotionally.

A petition calling for the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office to investigate the death of Christian Hall, 19, who was shot by police while experiencing a mental health crisis has garnered over 100,000 signatures.

The petition was set up by the family’s lawyer, Ben Crump, and has garnered 110,152 votes out of its 150,000 goal as of this writing.

Two of the four aviation officers responsible for dragging Dr. David Dao off a United Airlines flight in April have been fired, according to NBC News.

Chicago’s Inspector General Joseph Ferguson reported that an aviation security sergeant and an officer were fired, one served a two day suspension, and another voluntarily left his position on the force after the incident.

The incident, which occurred in July 28, 2016, demonstrates racial profiling and police brutality in the Worthington Police Department, Nobles County Sheriff’s Office, and the Buffalo Ridge Drug Task Force, according to the ACLU.
