Simu Liu clad in light blue turned heads at the “Barbie” world premiere in Los Angeles on Sunday.
What he wore: Versace dressed Liu — who stars as one of the live-action film’s Ken dolls — in a white open-collar shirt and a light blue belted cargo vest, single-breasted jacket and straight wool trousers. Santoni petrol green penny loafers, David Yurman jewels and a Rolex reportedly completed his ensemble.
Liu, 34, attended the premiere with his girlfriend, Allison Hsu, who was also dressed in Versace.
“Thank you @versace for dressing us both for the date night of the century with my Barbie,” the Chinese Canadian actor wrote on Instagram. “Life in plastic is, in fact, fantastic!”
Reactions: Liu’s look created a sharp contrast with the rest of his co-stars, who arrived in either black (Margot Robbie) or shades of pink (Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, Issa Rae). This triggered some criticism, while others stressed that he perfectly matched the pink carpet’s backdrop and the pastel world Barbie is known for.

Liu was not the only celebrity to appear in blue at the event. Rapper Nicki Minaj showed up in an ice blue dress, while Liv Morgan came in a light blue crop top and shorts with pink details, topped by her WWE championship belt.
“Barbie” hits cinemas on July 21.
