After spending almost a decade auditioning for “America’s Got Talent,” magician Kevin Li has finally achieved his dream of making it into one of the world’s biggest talent show franchises.
A years-long process: In an Instagram post on Friday, the magician shared that he has finally got into “America’s Got Talent” after auditioning every year for nine years, writing in his post description, “Don’t let adversity ever stop you.”
His performance: Li’s magic performance’s theme was centered on “core memory” and incorporated some props, including a board with pictures of himself, the judges — Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and Simon Cowell — and host Terry Crews, a deck of cards bearing pictures of “core memories” and a popcorn kernel.
He also stuck a googly eye on his forehead, much like the one in the Oscar-winning movieEverything Everywhere All At Once.”
The result: Using his sleight of hand tricks and a twist of mentalism magic, Li managed to get four yeses from the judges after he blew their minds during Tuesday’s airing of “AGT.”
First teaser: Li first teased his “AGT” audition in an Instagram post in April, sharing that his head was “still in the clouds” after his performance, which he described as a “truly out of body experience.”
Other notable acts: Besides his “AGT” dream, Li has also performed magic for many celebrities, including Best Actress Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh.
He also made history as the first magician to perform magic tricks on stage at Coachella in April. Li was also reportedly the youngest Asian American to fool legendary magicians Penn and Teller on their show “Fool Us” in 2019.
