Domino’s Japan is making headlines with a new pizza that features pickles.
About the pizza: The fast food chain announced its “Pickles Pizza” on Monday.
The new pie features around 1.32 pounds of sliced dill pickles. Instead of including a regular tomato sauce base, Domino’s Japan has opted for a camembert cheese sauce to better suit the sour flavor of the pickles.
Inspiration: In a press release, Domino’s Japan said it was mainly inspired by a recent trend in the U.S. that involves selecting pickles as a pizza topping.
Size and cost: The new pizza is available in a 15.7-inch diameter “New York size” and will be sold until stocks run out. A takeaway pizza costs 2,495 yen (approximately $17) while a delivered pizza costs 5,090 yen (approximately $35).
