A mother and daughter in Minnesota received a cake as an apology after their neighbors called the police on them while out playing “Pokémon Go” during COVID-19 lockdown.

Amy Kellems shared her experience on Facebook on April 11 after she received a “Pokémon” cake from her neighbors as an apology for reporting them to the authorities, KTVU reported.

Johnathan Cromwell, a former security guard in Virginia accused of killing a 60-year-old grandfather playing Pokémon Go, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison. 

On January 26, 2017, Chinese immigrant Jiansheng Chen was shot multiple times by Cromwell while he was out playing the popular GPS-based mobile game, Pokémon Go. Chen, who had taken to playing the game  to bond with his grandchildren, died at the scene after getting shot four times in his upper left chest and once in his left upper arm. The local police confirmed that the victim was unarmed.

Remember that super awesome, legendary Taiwanese grandpa who roams the streets on his bike filled with smartphones, playing “Pokemon Go”? Well, he has now found a new gig as Asus’ phone ambassador.

The 70-year-old grandpa, Chen San-yuan, has been named an Asus phone ambassador for the Taiwanese company’s ZenFone line of smartphones. Chen also appeared during the company’s press conference last month to talk about their phones, according to Mashable.

The criminal trial of a security guard accused of fatally shooting a 60-year-old grandfather playing Pokémon Go back in 2017 is finally set to begin, with jury selection slated for Tuesday.

Virginia security guard Johnathan Cromwell, an employee of Citywide Protection Services, is facing first-degree murder charges for the death of Chinese immigrant Jiansheng Chen over two years ago, NBC reports.

China is Finally Getting Pokémon Go

Almost two years after its global launch, Pokémon Go is now finally coming to China — arguably one of the world’s largest gaming market.

Pokémon Go developer Niantic reportedly struck a partnership with local video games company NetEase to bring the popular mobile game to the Chinese market. The launch date for the game in China has yet to be disclosed.
