Thousands of women are now reportedly lining up to become the girlfriend of Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa.
The 44-year-old fashion mogul recently made headlines after announcing his search for a girlfriend who he can take with him to the moon. Maezawa, who sold his online fashion business Zozo Inc. to SoftBank Group Corp. last year, is set to become the first private passenger on Elon Musk’s SpaceX, reports Reuters.

In 2018, Maezawa purchased all available seats on SpaceX’s Big Falcon Rocket for its scheduled trip around the moon in 2023. Now, Maesawa is looking for a partner who will accompany him on the historic trip.
Streaming service AbemaTV, which is in charge of the application process, will be airing “Full Moon Lovers,” a “serious matchmaking documentary” focused on Maezawa’s search for his “life partner.”
“As feelings of loneliness and emptiness slowly begin to surge upon me, there’s one thing that I think about: Continuing to love one woman,” Maezawa wrote on his website. “While it’s something that is taken for granted by everyone, it’s something that I haven’t quite been able to do until now.”
The streaming service reported on Thursday that they have now received over 20,000 applications to be the entrepreneur’s girlfriend.
To qualify for the lunar trip, the applicant must be single, at least 20 years of age, be “positive,” have a “bright personality,” enjoy “life to the fullest,” and “wishes for world peace.” Another requirement that the applicant must possess is a genuine interest in traveling to outer space.
On the show’s application site, applicants can test their compatibility with Maezawa via a “love diagnostic test.”
“If you rode in a private jet where would you go?” and “If Maezawa farted in front of you, what would you say?” are among the questions entrants must answer.
At the end of the test, the applicant is presented with their score alongside a corresponding image of the billionaire that shows him either happy or sad depending on the result. The application process officially ends on Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. JST.
Currently estimated to be worth $2 billion, Maezawa recently broke up with 27-year-old actress Ayame Goriki. He is set to reveal his final choice by the end of March.
“I want to find a life partner. With that future partner of mine, I want to shout our love and world peace from outer space,” Maezawa was quoted as saying. “I look forward to meeting someone amazing.”
