In an official statement, Starship Entertainment expressed gratitude to the group’s fans for all their love and support. The agency shared that they carried out lengthy discussions with Luda and Dawon before the two ultimately decided to end their exclusive contracts. The agency also said they respect the K-pop stars’ decision and assured their support for Luda and Dawon’s future endeavors.
Starship Entertainment claimed that they will provide full support to the members who renewed their contracts. Additionally, they encouraged fans to show their WJSN idols encouragement and support.
With Luda’s departure from the group, it is unclear if WJSN’s subunit group WJSN CHOCOME, which consisted of Luda, Soobin, Dayoung and Yeoreum, will continue to operate.
WJSN, jointly produced by the Starship Entertainment and Yuehua Entertainment, debuted in February 2016 as a 12-member group prior to Yeonjung joining in June of that same year. Their most recent release was the single album “Sequence” in July 2022. Last year, the K-pop act were crowned the winners of the second season of Mnet’s reality competition TV show “Queendom.”
