Viola Davis shows love for lively atmosphere of Filipino classroom with singing student

Award-winning actor Viola Davis took to Instagram to share a viral clip of a Filipino student singing, expressing her admiration for the lively atmosphere of the local classroom in the Philippines.
The viral video: The recorded clip, which was initially shared to TikTok on Feb. 4 by user @lovelyornd, features a female student singing the song “Akin Ka Na Lang” by Filipino artist Morissette and composer Francis Kiko Salazar in a classroom at the University of Cebu Lapu Lapu and Mandaue in Mandaue City.
As the student belts and reaches high notes in the love song, her professor and classmates cheer her on. To express his excitement, the professor, known as Sir Froilan, jumps and spins around before breaking out in some impromptu ballet dance moves. The classroom is left in laughter and tears as the students and teacher applaud. The video has since received over 4.3 million views and more than 477,000 likes.
Davis spreads the clip: Davis, known for her role in the drama series “How to Get Away with Murder,” shared the viral clip on her own Instagram reel on Tuesday.
“It’s the student, teacher and whole class for me,” Davis captioned her post along with the Philippine flag, fire and red heart emojis.
Online reactions: Davis’ reel has since garnered over 1.4 million views, with many viewers praising both the student’s talent and the professor’s enthusiasm and support.
“The way he couldn’t contain his joy, he’s so proud of her talent. They are so blessed to have him. He is so beautiful!!” one viewer commented.
“The teacher fancam we didn’t know we needed! There’s nothing more unserious and contagious than Filipino joy,” another said.
“If ‘YAASSS’ was a teacher, student, and whole class,” one person suggested.
“For non-Filipinos, this is normal. Karaoke is one of our national sports so of course, we have to start early… in school,” another explained with the laughing emoji.
Many Filipino celebrities, including Heart Evangelista, Isabelle Daza and Karen Bordador, have also commented on the post, expressing their appreciation for Davis’ recognition of Pinoy talent.
