VinFast opens first US dealership in North Carolina

VinFast launched its first American car dealership in North Carolina this week.
About the dealership: Leith VinFast, operated by the Raleigh-based Leith Automotive Group, opened at 2000 Auto Park Boulevard in Cary on Thursday. The new dealership marks the Vietnamese electric vehicle maker’s first foray into the U.S. dealership market as part of its broader expansion strategy in the country.
Apart from being a sales center, Leith VinFast offers a range of services and products, such as repairs, maintenance and parts for VinFast EVs. It currently stocks 60 of the five-seat VF8 model and expects to receive the seven-seat VF9 early this year.
What Leith is saying: Leith Automotive Group now adds VinFast to its regional network of over 25 stores that include Chrysler, Ford, Honda, Kia and Toyota dealerships. “After interacting with VinFast’s executive team and experiencing their vehicles firsthand, we were captivated by the brand and knew it was a perfect addition to the Leith Automotive Group,” COO Danny Williams said in a statement.
Leith VinFast General Manager David Coyle said they are meeting their area’s demand for luxury and eco-friendly transportation. As of early October, more than 70,000 zero-emission vehicles were registered in North Carolina.
What’s next: VinFast announced in November that it received over 70 dealer applications across the U.S. Leith VinFast is roughly 20 miles away from the EV maker’s upcoming state-of-the-art factory in Chatham County, which will open in 2025.
The $4 billion plant will produce up to 150,000 EVs annually and bring some 7,000 jobs to the area. It will start commissioning from 2026.
