K-pop girl group TWICE has launched a virtual fan world on “Roblox.”
The fan world, TWICE Square, was inspired by TWICE’s 2018 “Yes or Yes” music video and includes the group’s official colors, apricot and neon magenta. Players can participate in two mini-games: “Set Me Free,” an escape room challenge named after the group’s upcoming lead single, and a timed trivia challenge.
The space offers fans the opportunity to purchase, collect and trade a variety of in-game items, including plushies and an assortment of avatar clothing items based on the members’ real-life styles. In addition, fans can use emotes that are inspired by TWICE‘s most popular dance moves.
While “Roblox” has hosted virtual K-pop concerts in the past, TWICE Square is a metaverse space with forthcoming routine rollouts and activities.
“Roblox” also teased that individual TWICE members may hop in from time to time and engage with their fans.
TWICE’s large in-game fanbase was part of the inspiration for creating the space, with some communities having over 10,000 members.
TWICE is set to release their new album, “Ready to Be,” on Friday. The highly anticipated release includes their latest single, “Set Me Free,” in both English and Korean. Prior to the album’s launch, the group will perform on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” and on Tuesday, they are scheduled to appear on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
