An 88-year-old woman in Thailand has gone viral on Facebook after graduating from university earlier this month.
Sathaporn Phrom Sri, a social worker, enrolled in a liberal arts program at Chiang Mai Rajabhat University at the age of 80.
Sathaporn completed her studies at 84 and graduated with her official certificate at 88, according to Facebook user Thanaphat Nawakaew, another student at the university.
She reportedly attended weekend classes, and while she felt ill sometimes, she never missed a single lecture.
Sathaporn achieved a 2.24 grade point average (GPA), which included A’s in two subjects, namely music aesthetics and basic business operations.
She was the oldest student in her cohort, her youngest classmates at least 40 years below her age, according to MGR Online.
Nonetheless, Sathaporn was “full of joy and spunk.”
“You’re never too old to study, even though your age is over the workforce age standards; knowledge and experiences are unlimited,” she said, according to The Smart Local Thailand.
Needless to say, Sathaporn is proud of her achievement.
During the course of her studies, both students and faculty members looked up to her as a role model.
