The Jeff Rowe-led film is based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) characters created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman.
It is also a reboot of the TMNT film franchise.
“After years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts,” the film’s synopsis states. “Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.”
The film’s star-studded cast includes Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Hannibal Buress, Rose Byrne, Nicolas Cantu, John Cena, Ice Cube, Jackie Chan, Natasia Demetriou, Ayo Edebiri, Giancarlo Esposito, Post Malone, Paul Rudd, Brady Noon, Seth Rogen and Maya Rudolph.
Its screenplay was written by Rowe, Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Dan Hernandez, and it was executive produced by Ramsay McBean and Josh Fagen.
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” will hit cinemas on Aug. 2.
