University of Wisconsin-Madison faces another anti-Asian attack
- Less than a month after two of its Chinese students suffered physical attacks, the University of Wisconsin-Madison is dealing with yet another anti-Asian incident, according to reports.
- An Asian staff member was running on Lakeshore Path near Lot 60 when a man inside a car began yelling racial slurs at him.
- After hurling racist abuse, the aggressor got out of his vehicle and approached the staff member, who then ran out of fear.
- The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Tom N. Gbean of Oswego, Illinois. He has no affiliation with UW-Madison.
- The incident follows attacks on a doctoral student and an undergraduate student on June 14. Both students were of Chinese descent.

Police identify 3 suspects in attack of Chinese PhD student at UW-Madison
- Madison police have identified three of the four suspects from the June 14 attack on a Chinese Ph.D. student near the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
- Alijah C. Johnson (19), Cashius E. Carter (18), Abdoulah C. Traore-Flores (17) and an unidentified 15-year-old are facing battery and disorderly conduct charges for the incident, which left the 26-year-old victim with a bleeding ear and “spots” on his head.
- The same group of suspects is accused of throwing a banana at another Chinese student earlier that night, which also resulted in injuries.
- University of Wisconsin-Madison Interim Chancellor John Karl Scholz assured the academic community on Tuesday that the administration and law enforcement are working together to support the victims.
- The police have yet to find evidence to investigate the attacks as hate crimes.

‘Tonight, it’s my turn’: Chinese PhD student attacked by 5 men near University of Wisconsin-Madison
- A Chinese doctoral student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison was reportedly assaulted by a group of five men while walking home on University Avenue on Tuesday night.
- The student, who posted his experience on Weibo, said his assailants surrounded him, struck him in the face, shoved him to the ground and repeatedly punched and kicked him.
- The victim described his assailants as both white and Black men who were all “very well dressed” and “very fit.”
- The same group of assailants was also accused of attacking a South Asian victim earlier that night, just a few blocks away from the incident involving the Chinese student.
- In a statement on Thursday, UW-Madison said they are “committed to making our campus and nearby downtown areas safe for all” and that campus police are assisting in investigations.
- Students have organized a Stop Asian Hate rally today in light of the attacks.
