Federal authorities bust Queens-based gang that sex trafficked, brutally beat Chinese women

  • Nine members and associates of a Queens-based prostitution enterprise have been charged with racketeering, sex trafficking, Hobbs Act robbery and violent assaults.
  • The syndicate, which operated nationwide between April 2019 and September 2021, forced women who were mostly from China to work as prostitutes.
  • Members of the criminal enterprise hired goons who disguised themselves as customers and then assaulted and robbed at least 15 women across the U.S.

A Queens couple faces sex trafficking charges for tricking two South Korean women into prostitution by helping them pay for their travel and offering them a restaurant job in the U.S.

Authorities launched an investigation after one of the victims came forward to accuse Jung Ja Ornstein, 62, and Eric Ornstein, 49, of sex trafficking. Eric Ornstein appeared at the Queens Supreme Court on March 4 and Jung Ja Ornstein on March 11, New York Daily News reported.

ICE Agents Let Sex Traffickers Go Free After Getting Hand Jobs From Asian Prostitutes

Agents of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) — a division of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) — reportedly paid “Asian females” for handjobs in undercover operations that sought to combat sex trafficking in Mohave County, Arizona in 2018.

Within a five-month period that year, the agents, identified only as “Arturo” and “Sergio,” documented 17 sexual encounters with subjects working at eight massage parlors in the county, according to records obtained by the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism at Arizona State University (ASU).

Two Arrested For Trafficking 16 Chinese Women From China to Work as Prostitutes

Police have arrested Ling Yu in New York and Hang Zheng in Austin, Texas after the two were accused of trafficking at least 16 women from China to the U.S. for prostitution.

In September 2016, the McLennan County Sheriff office’s Criminal Investigation Division began looking into the prostitution ring, reaching out to an online ad promoting an “Asian female escort” on Backpage.com, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Waco Tribune-Herald.
