Daniel Dae Kim Throws Some Glorious Shade at CBS Over ‘Hawaii Five-0’ Exit

Daniel Dae Kim made his first public comments since his departure from CBS’ “Hawaii Five-0″ after the network were unable to reach pay equality for the actor and his co-star, Grace Park.

Kim and Park, who have both been part of “Hawaii Five-0” for seven seasons since its debut in 2010, decided to leave the show ahead of the upcoming Season 8 premiere after CBS Television Studios failed to offer them the same salary as white co-stars, Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan.

The National Hispanic Media Coalition is condemning CBS for failing to pay Asian lead stars Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park as much as their white co-stars, Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan.

Kim and Park, who have both been with CBS’ “Hawaii Five-0” for seven seasons since 2010, were offered 10-15% less than the salary of actors O’Loughlin and Caan, who both have deals that also give them percentage points on the show’s back end, according to Variety.

It’s “Hawaii Five-0” creator Peter Lenkov’s turn to speak after the show’s stars Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park left last week, posting on Twitter that CBS offered the pair “unprecedented raises”.

“The truth is this: both actors chose not to extend their contracts,” he wrote. “CBS was extremely generous and proactive in their renegotiation talks. So much so, the actors were getting unprecedented raises, but in the end they chose to move on.”
