Bill Maher, the host of HBO’s political talk show “Real Time with Bill Maher,” defended why Americans should be allowed to call the COVID-19 pandemic “Chinese Virus.”
In his latest “New Rule” segment on April 10, the 64-year-old political commentator focused on why Americans should be able to use the “Chinese Virus” instead of the official name given by the World Health Organization (WHO), according to Daily Beast.
Bill Maher, host of the HBO series “Real Time” and a man known for calling a Japanese-American man a “chink”, is no stranger to dancing with racial slights against Asians.
His latest offense cam in the form of a tweet playing on the conflict with North Korea and the stereotype of Asian women who work at nail salons.
I felt a sense of deja vu hearing about Bill Maher being taken to task for saying “nigger” on his “Real Time With Bill Maher” HBO series, which aired on June 2nd. You see, I debated Sarah Silverman on Maher’s previous talk show incarnation — ABC’s “Politically Incorrect“ — on August 22, 2001, talking about her use of “chink” in a joke. And the second topic was: Can non-Blacks get away with saying “nigga?”
