Organizers on Wednesday unveiled the lineup of next year’s Sundance Film Festival, with Asian American star Steven Yeun leading one of the most anticipated titles.
About the lineup: The Sundance Institute announced 82 feature films, eight episodic titles and a New Frontier interactive experience for the 40th year of the festival, which will be held in Utah’s Park and Salt Lake cities from Jan. 18 – 28, 2024. A selection of titles will be available online nationwide from January 25 – 28, 2024.

Asian stories and directors: According to the organizers, the feature films with Asian storylines include “Agent of Happiness,” “And So It Begins,” “Black Box Diaries,” “Brief History of a Family,” “Didi” (“弟弟”), “Girls Will Be Girls,” “Love Me” and “Nocturnes.” Meanwhile, Asian filmmakers participating in the event include Arun Bhattarai (“Agent of Happiness”), Ramona S. Diaz (“And So It Begins”), Shiori Ito (“Black Box Diaries”), Jianjie Lin (“Brief History of a Family”), Sean Wang (“Didi” / “弟弟”), Shuchi Talati (“Girls Will Be Girls”), Greg Jardin (“It’s What’s Inside”) and Anirban Dutta and Anupama Srinviasan (“Nocturnes”).

Leads: Steven Yeun will star alongside Kristen Stewart in “Love Me,” a sci-fi romance about a buoy and a satellite. Other Asian stars in leading roles include Lucy Liu (“Presence”), Dolly De Leon (“Ghostlight” and “Between the Temples”) and Will Sharpe (“A Real Pain”).
