Hello, Everyone!

A new retrospective study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association reveals that Hmong American adults experience strokes at a younger age compared to their White counterparts.

The study, which focused on Hmong communities in the U.S., found that Hmong patients were more susceptible to a rarer and more deadly type of stroke called intracerebral hemorrhage. Additionally, they had higher blood sugar levels than White patients with the same type of stroke.

The research included 128 Hmong and 3,084 White stroke patients treated at a Minnesota hospital. Hmong patients' strokes occurred at an average age of 60 for ischemic strokes and 56 for hemorrhagic strokes, while White patients' average ages were 70 for both types.
