K-pop supergroup NCT released their latest studio album, “Golden Age – The 4th Album,” on Monday.
10 songs, 20 members: The new album, which is a follow-up to 2021’s “Universe,” unites all 20 members from NCT’s different subunits — NCT U, NCT 127, NCT Dream, WayV and NCT DoJaeJung — to feature in different combinations across 10 songs.
The album opens with “Baggy Jeans” and ends with “Golden Age,” with “Call D,” “PADO,” “Interlude: Oasis,” “The BAT,” “Alley Oop,” “That’s Not Fair,” “Kangaroo,” and “Not Your Fault” in between.
“Golden Age” also served as the pre-release track for the album, with its music video previously dropping last week on Wednesday. The song notably features all 20 members and reportedly takes inspiration from Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Piano Sonata No. 8 in C minor, Op. 13, ‘Sonata Pathétique’ II.”
Other details: Members Taeyong and Ten collaborated on “Call D.” The pair previously worked on NCT’s hit song “Baby Don’t Stop,” which they performed at KCON LA 2023 this month.
Members Taeyong, Johnny, Jaehyun, Mark, Xiaojun, Hendery and Haechan feature on “PADO,” which is Korean for “wave.” Another track, “The BAT,” brings together Taeil, Johnny, Yuta, Jungwoo, Hendery, Jeno and Jisung for a fast-moving rap number with references to Batman and the Batmobile.
