A man accused in the murder and rape of a 25-year-old Asian woman in Downtown Atlanta in August was denied bond in his latest court appearance.
Background: Ja’Keivious Arnold, 24, is facing multiple charges in connection with the death of Mitchel Dang, whose nude and decomposing body was found in a parking garage near the Fulton County Courthouse on Aug. 30. Dang was last seen headed to Alley Cat Atlanta, a music venue on Lower Alabama Street on Aug. 26.
Allegations: Arnold allegedly approached Dang after she exited the venue, offering help to find her car. He then lured her into a stairwell in the parking garage, where he “choked her until she passed out,” Atlanta Police Detective Jarion Shephard reportedly testified Friday.
Afterward, Arnold allegedly admitted to sexually assaulting Dang. When she woke up, he choked her to death and raped her corpse for “at least 20 minutes,” Shephard said.

Aftermath: Arnold allegedly stuffed Dang’s body under the stairwell, using a newspaper to cover her face. He then allegedly fled the scene with her debit card before using it to make purchases.
Charges: Arnold was arrested in Chamblee on Sept. 22. He was subsequently charged with murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated sexual battery, necrophilia, kidnapping, false imprisonment, robbery and financial transaction theft.
He remains held at the Fulton County Jail. A judge denied his bond Friday.

What her family is saying: Dang was a beginning YouTuber who shared moments from her life on the platform. Her family is determined to find justice for her death.
“We hope that justice be served in its fullest capacity,” her sister, Mary Dang, wrote in a statement. “We pray for peace and truth as this investigation unfolds.”
A GoFundMe page has been organized to help her family.
