McDonald’s launches retro Game Boy Color game for Grimace’s Birthday


Fast food giant McDonald’s has released a side-scrolling video game in celebration of Grimace’s birthday, one of the franchises’ original characters.
The game: Styled after the 2D games of Nintendo’s Game Boy Color, which was released in 1998, “Grimace’s Birthday” has players helping Grimace host a birthday party at a McDonald’s. It’s a race against the clock as players are tasked with collecting purple milkshakes and his missing friends along the way across four different levels.
Where to play: Released on Monday, the game can be played on the game’s official website on either mobile or desktop.
Menu and merch: McDonald’s has also released the “Grimace Birthday Meal,” which includes a choice of a Big Mac or 10-piece McNuggets, medium fries and a purple milkshake, which is made from McDonald’s vanilla soft serve and berry flavor.
They also unveiled Grimace-themed merch such as T-shirts, bucket hats, beanies and pool floats.
