Vice President Kamala Harris recently hosted a Women’s History Month brunch and invited several female leaders and trailblazers, including rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
Harris, 58, co-hosted the event with Glamour at her Washington, D.C., residence on Saturday.
The vice president delivered a speech about women’s economic empowerment and the importance of passing paid leave, according to Glamour.
“Economic empowerment of women is about an investment in the future of our country. When you lift up the economic status of women, you lift up the economic status of families and communities, and all of society benefits,” Harris told her invitees.
“My mother had many sayings. She said, ‘Kamala, you may be the first to do many things.  Make sure you are not the last.’ Let us continue to keep that path and that door open, and make it bigger and wider for all those who are counting on us,” she said later on in her speech.
Following the event, Megan posted several photos on Instagram.
One of the pictures features the Grammy Award-winning rapper, 28, confidently sticking her tongue out while taking a selfie with Harris.
“DC @kamalaharris,” Megan wrote in her post’s caption.
Harris, who is African American and South Asian American, is notably the United States’ first female vice president.
Other guests she invited to her special event include Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, actors Simone Ashley, Nicole Ari Parker and Phoebe Robinson, author and activist Marley Dias and athlete Ashlyn Harris.
