A touching gesture that aimed to bring comfort to the devastated ASTRO fandom in the wake of the untimely death of member Moonbin is winning hearts online.
The simple act of kindness was displayed by a fan of Jonghyun, the late lead singer of the boy group SHINee who also reportedly died by suicide in 2017.
In a now-viral post, Twitter user @LZlZDO8aSJ4xSVl highlighted how the fan left a bag of chocolates for Moonbin’s fans at the memorial set up by ASTRO’s management agency, Fantagio.

The tweet included the unnamed fan’s handwritten note that read:

This is Jonghyun’s fan. [I] dropped by to pay my respects but felt for those who might be skipping meals, so [I] am leaving some chocolates behind. [I] prepared enough, so please take a handful to eat throughout the day. (I would be grateful if anyone can please move this to the shadows if the sun begins to shine on it.)

Commenters from different fandoms found the act of kindness touching, with many expressing their grief in solidarity with ASTRO fans, known as AROHA, during a difficult time.
“This is devastating,” lamented a fan. “But at the same time, this is heartwarming.”
“I hope both Jonghyun and Moonbin have found peace,” one commenter wrote. “I wasn’t in either of the fandoms, but I liked listening to Jonghyun’s songs. And I liked watching Moonbin’s dance challenges on YouTube. I thank them both for the good memories. Wishing them eternal happiness.”
“Jonghyun and Moonbin… Please be free from pain and rest in peace and happiness, wherever you are,” wrote a fan.
Moonbin was 25 when he was found unresponsive in his apartment in Seoul’s Gangnam district on April 19.
According to local authorities, the singer apparently “took his own life.”
Moonbin’s death is the latest in a series of sudden deaths of young celebrities in the South Korean entertainment industry.
Among the most recent were the deaths of 26-year-old actor Jung Chae-yull earlier this month and 27-year-old star Yoo Joo-eun in August of last year.
