New Bathroom at Chinese University Leaves Students Extremely Confused

When Hunan University in China built a new building for its graduate students, they may have believed that a good number of students would like to be watched while they squat to go to the bathroom.
So says the massive floor-to-ceiling window on the last stall in one of the men’s bathrooms. Even more, the urinals of the bathroom are also visible from the window, which is not believed to be a one-way mirror (which would make more sense).
Photos of the new bathroom have since gone viral on Chinese social media with many students asking “why?”. Perhaps to make students more self-conscious of their bathroom manners?
Why would the university build a bathroom like that? Do you know?
It may forever remain a mystery.

If this happened on campus, Stanford should issue a clear public update and specific safety actions.

Agree. People need facts and process, not silence. The school should confirm what is being investigated.

Also important to separate verified details from rumors so this does not spiral online.

The death threat part is extremely serious. Hoping law enforcement and campus security are already involved.

This is where official reporting and support channels need to be visible and easy to access.

Can NextShark keep a timeline thread here as updates come in? That would help keep context in one place.
