In three Instagram posts last week, plastic surgeon Julian de Silva, who owns the Centre for Advanced Facial Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery in London, revealed his list of the 10 most handsome men in the world after scanning their pictures using computerized mapping techniques and scoring them based on their facial features.
These brand new computer mapping techniques allow us to solve some of the mysteries of what it is that makes someone physically beautiful and the technology is useful when planning patients’ surgery,” he explained in his most recent Instagram post.
The Golden Ratio of Beauty Phi, which is a mathematical ratio that purportedly measures a person’s beauty, uses the ancient Greeks’ Golden Ratio.
Golden Ratio ratings are determined by measurements taken from the subject’s forehead hairline down to the spot between their eyes, from the spot between their eyes to the bottom of their nose, and from the bottom of their nose to the bottom of their chin.
After dividing these measurements, the results are compared to Phi, which is 1.618. A person is considered more beautiful the closer their results are to Phi.
The Golden Ratio was widely used by artists and architects throughout history as a guide for creating their masterpieces, such as Leonardo da Vinci when he drew the Vitruvian Man, which is meant to represent the ideal human body proportions.
Golding, 35, placed ninth after receiving a Golden Ratio rating of 87.88%.
Commenting on Golding’s rating, de Silva explained, “The Malaysian-British actor and presenter scored highly for his chin shape and eye spacing but was marked down by the shapes of his nose and face,” the Daily Mail reported.
In his most recent Instagram post, de Silva noted that the “Snake Eyes” actor’s chin received a Golden Ratio rating of 94.2%, followed by his lips at 90%, his eye position at 89% and his nose base/lip width at 86.7%. Golding’s rating for his face shape and forehead were both at 85%, while his nose width/length received 80.2%.
The nine other men who are part of de Silva’s list include athletes, musicians and Hollywood actors.
Regé-Jean Page took first place with 93.65%, while the second to eighth spots were claimed by Chris Hemsworth (93.53%), Michael B. Jordan (93.46%), Harry Styles (92.3%), Jude Bellingham (92.22%), Robert Pattison (92.15%), Chris Evans (91.92%) and George Clooney (89.91%). Dwayne Johnson took the 10th and final spot with 86.07%.
