Gene Hong and Alan Yang are teaming up with Amazon Studios and Universal Television to develop “Koreatown,” a one-hour drama set in Los Angeles.
The forthcoming series will follow the story of two Korean American brothers — a recovering addict and a nightclub owner — who must set their differences aside to helm a drug operation and save their dying mother, Deadline reported.
Both Hong and Yang will serve as executive producers.
Hong, who currently writes and produces for “Magnum P.I.,” is also the writer behind “Koreatown.” His other credits include “Lethal Weapon,” “Bones” and “Community.” He is also currently developing an untitled baseball drama with producer Donna Gigliotti (“80 For Brady,” “Hidden Figures”).
Meanwhile, Yang is busy filming the second season of “Loot,” a series that he co-created for Apple TV+. A former writer of “Parks and Recreation,” Yang won an Emmy for his work on the Netflix hit show “Master of None,” which he co-created with Aziz Ansari. He also served as an executive producer of Apple TV+’s anthology series “Little America.”
