A lucky gambler at the Saratoga Race Course in New Jersey bet 50 cents on Saturday and ended up winning nearly half a million dollars.
The anonymous gambler spent a total of $675 on other races, but took home a grand prize of $471,124.50 with a winning ticket that originally cost 50 cents.
According to the New York Racing Association, the bet was called “Pick Five” and required the gambler to pick the winning horses in each of the five different races throughout the day.
The winning horses were Saratoga Mischief, Realm, English Minister, Site Read and Hey Bro.
The bettor collected the entire payout because no other horse-player was able to pick the five winning horses on Saturday. He received the biggest payout since last summer at Saratoga when a winner collected $595,502.
