Filipino American rappers Saweetie and P-Lo collaborated to release a San Francisco 49ers anthem, “Do It For The Bay,” ahead of the team’s playoff run.
About the song: The “Bay-triotic” song, which was created in partnership with the 49ers, serves as the new anthem of the NFL team. “Do It For The Bay” is aimed at rallying football fans and features a music video showcasing Bay Area landmarks and 49ers game highlights. In the high-energy hip-hop track, Saweetie, a Santa Clara native, and P-Lo, a Pinole native, express their loyalty and love for the 49ers while boasting the team’s signature red and gold colors.
“Do your dance, do your dance / We just came through the end zone again / What we standin’ on?’ — Real big business / City of the dubs, you know we stay winnin’,” they rap before the chorus that goes, “OK, OK, OK, OK / Do it for the Bay.”
Rappers’ message: Both rappers expressed excitement about creating the Bay-themed anthem in collaboration with the 49ers.
“I’m excited to share our new 49ers single designed to hype up the team and The Faithful for this playoffs run. Shout out to P-Lo for doing what he does. I love that we were able to collaborate and make something that’s so Bay-triotic, as P-Lo would say,” Saweetie said in a press release.
“Big thanks to the 49ers for their commitment to bridging sports and Bay Area culture. I’ve been wanting to release music with Saweetie and with both of us being die-hard 49ers fans, this a great opportunity to come together and show our pride for The Bay,” added P-Lo, who was sporting a Levi’s outfit in the music video to pay homage to the Bay Area’s Levi’s Stadium.
The song is now available on major streaming platforms.
