Filipino actor Klea Pineda comes out as ‘proud member of LGBTQIA+ community’

To celebrate her 24th birthday, Filipino actor Klea Pineda came out as a “proud member” of the LGBTQIA+ community.
On March 19, Pineda unveiled the news in an Instagram post that included photos of herself and a lengthy description detailing her decision to come out publicly.
My 24th birthday is extra special since I finally mustered up the courage to come out to the world as my true authentic self. I can say that this is the bravest decision I’ve made in my life. I want the world to know that I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
I know not everyone will understand and appreciate this decision. But throughout the years, I’ve learned to prioritize the things that give joy and meaning to my life, and revealing my sexuality to the world is a huge part of it.
My sexuality is just one aspect of my life and it won’t stop me from chasing after my dreams. I am still the same Klea that you loved and supported throughout the years. The only difference now is I can proudly say that I’m gay!
Pineda’s mother, Charito, expressed joy for her daughter’s decision in her own Instagram post: “Happy birthday, my first born. Always proud of you, we love you so much.”
The actor said she hopes to inspire and empower others who are struggling to come to terms with their sexuality.
Pineda noted that there is nothing wrong with who they are, encouraging them to be “the person that your younger self would be proud of.”
Moving forward, Pineda said that she wants to continue living her life “fearlessly” and remind others to “spread love and empowerment.”
The 24-year-old first rose to stardom after winning GMA Network’s talent reality competition “StarStruck” in 2015. She has since starred in hit drama series, such as “Encantadia” and “Magkaagaw,” in the Philippines.
Pineda reportedly met her 28-year-old girlfriend, Katrice Kierulf, on TikTok.
Kierulf, a YouTuber and motorcycle racing enthusiast, also celebrated Pineda’s announcement and birthday in an Instagram post.
“I believe the stars aligned for us for a reason. I am beyond lucky to have met you in this lifetime, Klea. You are the most loving, patient and generous soul I’ve ever met. I’m so proud to call you my girlfriend,” Kierulf wrote.
In a separate post, Kierulf shared a beach photo of her and her girlfriend with the hashtag “Love Always Wins.”
“Not everyone will understand our love story. But we won’t let it shatter our goals, dreams and the future we want to build together,” Kierulf wrote.
