Elderly California motorcyclist dies after crashing into tree

An Asian motorcyclist died after crashing into a tree in Redwood City, California, on Sunday morning.

A motorcyclist died after crashing into a tree in Redwood City, California, on Sunday morning.
The man, a Los Altos Asian American resident in his 60s, was reportedly heading westbound on La Honda Road (State Route 84) in his 2015 Ducati when he lost control and swerved off the road. He collided with a tree and got thrown off his vehicle, which then burst into flames. He was declared dead at the scene.
The incident, which took place some two miles west of Skyline Boulevard (State Route 35), occurred just after 11 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

After 1 p.m. on Sunday, CHP officers conducted one-way traffic control in the area. 
The San Mateo Coroner’s Office is expected to publicly identify the victim after his family is notified of his death.
