Earlier today, news of DJ Khaled spread that he had lost $80,000 within 30 seconds after accidentally posting his Black Amex card information on Snapchat.
Media outlets like Vice, All Hiphop, Power 106 all reported on the story as true.
“I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life and this is just another one,” Khaled allegedly said in a follow-up Snap.
He also allegedly warned: “People who bought something with my card. All purchases are trackable and you will be arrested. Congratulations, you played yourself.”
Unfortunately, the story actually originated from a satirical site and is untrue.
Khaled has exploded in popularity on social media over the past year for his inspirational sayings, which often inform viewers on “the keys” to success. The phrase has become so trendy that the White House, in its first Snapchat yesterday, included the caption “The key: get some rest before the big day.” presumably referring to President Obama’s State of the Union Address later that night.
