A mother from Pingtan Island in the Chinese province of Fujian was caught off guard when she discovered her daughter’s interesting habit of watching TV while clinging to the walls of their living room.
Key details: The mother discovered her 8-year-old daughter’s secret talent while checking their living room security footage, later uploading the video to her Douyin channel on July 9.
About the video: The security footage shows her daughter sneakily climbing up the walls by pressing her hands, feet and legs into one corner of their living room. Another person who can be seen in the video seems to be unaware of what is happening behind her as they watch TV.
The mother said she was unaware of her daughter’s talent until she checked the footage, admitting that her daughter can be a daredevil sometimes, according to South China Morning Post.
Demonstrating her skill: In a follow-up video, the mother showcases her daughter’s talent up close as the latter meticulously climbs up to the ceiling using her arms and legs.
How she does it: According to the mother, the coastal city in which they live has a humid climate, making the girl more “sticky.” One Chinese social media user also reportedly noted that the living room’s tiled walls may offer more grip for the girl.
What people are saying: Some Chinese social media users compared the girl to the Marvel comic book superhero “Spider-Girl,” with one user writing, “Check if your girl has a spider bite on her. If so, you should get the costume made.”
