Anime streamer Crunchyroll has announced the acquisition of the upcoming animated superhero series “Bastions,” featuring new music from BTS.
BTS composed the main theme song for the show, which was originally ordered by South Korean network SBS. The full soundtrack features music from K-pop girl groups Le Sserafim and Brave Girls, as well as soloists Heize and AleXa
It is the first project from BTS as a group since their anthology album “Proof” released in June last year. Since then, the K-pop act has been on a temporary group hiatus, with the individual members pursuing solo projects or fulfilling their mandatory military enlistments.
Crunchyroll has an extraordinary opportunity to introduce fans to more animation styles from Asia, and this exciting new series from Korea does just that, and having the music of so many K-pop stars really broadens the appeal of ‘Bastions,’” said Asa Suehira, Crunchyroll’s chief content officer.

A trailer and official synopsis for “Bastions” was released on Wednesday.

These unconventional heroes are gearing up to prevent disaster! In a world where superpowers are the norm, a group of beloved idols work together to keep society safe. But they’re about to face a new enemy: Wash Green. This megacorporation may call itself eco-friendly, but it’s really the leader in environmental pollution. Can Bastions persevere and save the planet?

The five-part series will begin airing on Saturdays from May 13 with worldwide streaming rights, excluding China, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, North Korea and South Korea.
