Police in Portland, Maine, issued a warning Friday about a group of men involved in a series of burglaries that have targeted Asian families in the city.
The suspects, described to be a group of Hispanic males, would sometimes pose as food delivery drivers to scope out their target’s home, police said. They would then return a day or two later to ransack the residence.
The victims also tend to be small business owners. In their announcement, police attached photos from what appears to be a recent incident.
The images show at least two individuals wearing face masks, dark clothing and baseball caps. They appear to be driving a white BMW sedan with a Colorado license plate, as per WMTW.

Theresa Kim, vice president of Maine’s Unified Asian Communities (UAC), told The Portland Press Herald that she was “super upset” about the burglaries.
Her group has not heard directly from any victim, but she believes “there have been quite a few.”

You have to realize a lot of communities come from war-torn countries with trauma. So for them to be able to reach out to the police may be a challenge for them, especially of our older community members with the cultural barriers of language and understanding.

Investigation into the case continues. Anyone with information is urged to call Portland Maine police at (207) 874-8575.

If this happened on campus, Stanford should issue a clear public update and specific safety actions.

Agree. People need facts and process, not silence. The school should confirm what is being investigated.

Also important to separate verified details from rumors so this does not spiral online.

The death threat part is extremely serious. Hoping law enforcement and campus security are already involved.

This is where official reporting and support channels need to be visible and easy to access.

Can NextShark keep a timeline thread here as updates come in? That would help keep context in one place.
