Arthur and Orm join forces in first ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ trailer

DC Studios released the first trailer of “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” on Thursday, energizing fans who have been eagerly waiting to return to Atlantis.
About the sequel: Directed by James Wan, the sequel to 2018’s “Aquaman” sees Jason Momoa reprise Arthur Curry and the titular role. The film hits theaters on Dec. 20.
What to expect: “The Lost Kingdom” picks up from where its predecessor left off: Arthur becoming King of Atlantis. In the trailer, he is seen forging an unlikely alliance with his half-brother Orm (Patrick Wilson) to fight a stronger Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), who is determined to “kill Aquaman and destroy everything he holds dear.”
The movie will also see the return of Amber Heard as Mera after her widely publicized trial against Johnny Depp. Heard previously claimed that her part had been “pared down” due to the trial, but Wan recently clarified that he had always planned for the sequel to focus on Arthur and Orm’s relationship.
“I always pitched this to everyone from the get-go. The first ‘Aquaman’ was Arthur and Mera’s journey. The second movie was always going to be Arthur and Orm. So, the first was a romance action-adventure movie, the second one is a bromance action-adventure movie,” Wan told Entertainment Weekly.
Reactions: The trailer has received over 6.5 million views since its posting. Fans expressed their excitement in the comments.
“I love Aquaman’s new story line. His mom and dad both alive and well and he and Orm building a new relationship instead of always being enemies. Absolutely love it,” one YouTube user wrote.
Another commented, “Okay I will admit, that Black Manta suit could not be more perfect, it looks badass every shot it’s in.”
“I was surprised by how good the first Aquaman movie was by James Wan, not expecting anything less in this one either. Can’t wait!” another exclaimed.
