A woman in Sichuan province, China, went viral for quitting her job to travel with her grandfather.
Xiao Wan, 25, graduated college in 2020 and had been working in Chengdu when she decided to quit her job after noticing her grandfather’s sadness.
Xiao would occasionally visit her family in Zigong. In May, she saw her 84-year-old grandfather living alone and reminiscing a lot about his wife, who died six years ago.
Although Xiao’s parents were skeptical, she decided to quit her job to spend more time with her grandfather, who dreamt of visiting Beijing with his wife but never got to before she passed away.

Xiao wanted to fulfill her grandfather’s wishes, so she arranged trips to popular sites such as the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. She uploaded daily vlogs of their trips to Chinese social media with a hashtag that has since garnered around 230 million views on Weibo.
In some viral photographs, the grandfather can be seen holding up a photo of his wife inside his wallet.
Grandfather
Xiao told Red Star News on Oct. 19 that she did not plan on becoming an internet celebrity. She said she only wanted to “accompany my grandfather as he fulfills his dreams.”
“Daily records, thank you for your attention. I quit my job and came home to accompany my grandfather, and I will take him to fulfill his 100 wishes,” Xiao reportedly said in one of her videos. “Don’t let misses become regrets, and remember to go home often to take a look.”
