Winona Ryder, who stars opposite Keanu Reeves in the rom-com movie “Destination Wedding,” realized that she might have married her co-star 26 years ago when they both appeared in “Bram Stoker’s Dracula.”
Ryder told
Entertainment Weekly about shooting a wedding scene with Reeves for Francis Ford Coppola’s 1992 movie. Instead of hiring an actor to play the role of a priest, the director brought in a real priest for the ceremony.
“We actually got married in Dracula. No, I swear to god I think we’re married in real life.” the 46-year-old actress said in the interview. “In that scene, Francis [Ford Coppola] used a real Romanian priest. We shot the master and he did the whole thing. So I think we’re married.”
“It’s lovely to see you again,” the 53-year-old actor joked after recalling going through the ceremony and both saying “I do.”
Shocked, Reeves asked, “We said yes?” to which Ryder responded, “Don’t you remember that? It was on Valentine’s Day.”
It took him a moment to remember, but he eventually concluded, “Oh my gosh, we’re married.”
The news was well-received by a lot of fans on social media.

It turns out that the wedding might be real as the director himself confirmed Ryder’s take on the event.
While speaking with
The Guardian, Coppola explained his unhappiness with the stylized scene and decided that
“having the real wedding ceremony as it might be in that religion [Greek Orthodox Christianity] would be beautiful.”“This is pretty authentic and I think very beautiful because we actually did the ceremony and had the priest do the ceremony,” the 79-year-old director continued. “So in a sense, when we were all done, we realized that Keanu and Winona really are married as a result of this scene and this ceremony.”
However, the Ryder and Reeves would need to go through a bunch of papers to make the union official.
Real or not, this could be a good idea for a new rom-com film, possibly starring Ryder and Reeves.
