Wedding Guests in China Cheer as Father-In-Law Gives Bride the Most Inappropriate Kiss Ever

To make weddings more fun and exciting, newlyweds and guests in China often participate in traditional wedding games locally called “nao dong fang” where friends and relatives would make playfully suggestive jokes at the newlywed couple’s expense in their bedroom.

Such is the case of a wedding in central China’s Henan Province, wherein a father-in-law was shown locking his lips with his son’s bride in a supposed effort to win a bet offered by a wedding guest.

Apparently, a guest had dared the middle-aged man to kiss his son’s fiancée for 10,000 yuan ($1,440), Daily Mail reported.

A video clip of the challenge, which was pretty much a form of public harassment, was posted by Qi Di Shi Bao on Chinese video-sharing site MiaoPai on December 25.

The caption on the post stated that one guest at the banquet insisted that the father-in-law should kiss the bride in exchange for the cash. The father-in-law obliged without the slightest hesitation. The groom, however, was not identified or indicated in the video.

Although the bride seemed to hesitate in the beginning, she was pushed to participate in the end as some of the guests were pressuring her to do so.

Holding her by the shoulders, the father-in-law started kissing the bride as the crowd around them cheered. After the shameless kiss, that went on unnecessarily for about 17 seconds, the young bride was seen blushing while the father-in-law gave a wide smile.

While the people in the video seemed to find subjecting newlywed couples to harassment as acceptable, most netizens who watched it completely disagreed. Many pointed out that the father-in-law’s behavior was grossly inappropriate, with some saying they couldn’t believe he would do it just for the bet.
