One gardener proved that his attachment to his 40-year-old bush is priceless when he refused to sell it in exchange for an attractive amount of money.
When 78-year-old Wang Genliang from China received a holly bush as gift from his friend, he spent the next 40-years maintaining it. Despite having grown to 2.5 meters tall today, Wang still makes sure that his bush maintains its “rooster” shape.
Coincidentally, this year falls under the year of the Rooster which made Wang’s bush a popular attraction in his town, Shanghaiist said. So, what used to be a small shrub is now a photo opportunity for people in his village located in Jiangsu province.
Although it’s just a giant animal-shaped bush to some, Wang’s love for his plant is so serious that he refused the $14,500 offer from a person in exchange for his “rooster” bush.
Many netizens said that the old grandpa should have taken the money and bought himself a whole nursery of plants. Because Wang’s “rooster” bush bears no elaborate design, the $14,500 offer was indeed pretty generous
Although Wang could have sold it for a hefty amount of money, his beloved bush definitely meant more to him than just a plant.
“I couldn’t bear to part with it. It is my pastime and I don’t want to sell it for money,” Wang said.
